Problem Scenario:

I need to figure out where is best to plant my grass in terms of light. (By light bulbs and sunlight.)


Broad Question:

Are there other kinds of light sources I could use?




Specific Question:

How do light sources affect the growth of winter rye?

Hypothesis:

If I put the plant in a lighter source it will grow larger.

For the truth I have never had a green thumb and will have a hard time growing the plants. To solve that I could ask my Grandpa to help me with my experiment. He is great at growing plants and he could really big help.

Experimental Design

What is your experimental unit?

I will be measuring the growth of Winter Rye in centimeters

Number Of Trials:

I will only do this once

Number Of Subjects In Each trial:

I will be putting about 2-3 plants per light source. (I will be using two light bulb sources and two sunlight source).

Number of Observations:

I will take one measurement once every week.

When data will be collected

At the end of about 3-5 weeks of growing.

Detailed Procedure

1. By the list of materials I will pour about 2 inches of soil in each cup
2. Poke a hole in the soil using my finger
3. Drop 2-3 seeds in the hole and cover it up with the surrounding soil.
4. Place them in their experiment locations
5. Water it on a daily basis (if it needs it.)
6. Rotate the plant about 90 degrees every day for equal light
7. I will measure the plant every other day.
